About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide commissioning support for upcoming and ongoing solar plant projects
  • Perform hands-on equipment testing and commissioning of substation and interconnect equipment
  • Perform NETA and NERC testing for outside customers
  • Support the SCADA team with system integration and troubleshooting
  • Maintain accurate logs, checklists, and LOTO documentation
  • Lead or assist with startup and energization of electrical systems
  • Train subcontractors and vendors on safety protocols, including LOTO and Energized Zone procedures
  • Troubleshoot and resolve field issues, including developing methods of procedure
  • Participate in daily and weekly progress meetings and maintain project documentation
  • Manage small projects independently and lead field service teams on larger efforts
  • Deliver timely service reports and communicate equipment performance insights
  • Apply Koch’s Guiding Principles in all work activities

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Willing and able to travel up to 80% and work weekends/holidays as needed
  • Valid driver's license
  • High school diploma or higher with a minimum of 3 years of experience testing, troubleshooting, evaluating, and servicing electrical distribution and control systems
  • Alternatively, completion of an accredited trade school and/or program with 7 or more years of experience evaluating and servicing electrical distribution or control systems in lieu of a high school diploma or GED
  • Experience testing, troubleshooting, evaluating, and servicing electrical distribution and control systems
  • Experience performing power quality measurements, troubleshooting, and analysis
  • Experience with protective relays
  • Ability to work outdoors and be exposed to the elements
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk short distances, and climb stairs occasionally
  • Ability to grasp, lift, handle, and carry frequently, with a maximum lift of 50 lbs.
  • Ability to comply with all safety standards and procedures
  • Ability to reach above shoulder heights and below the waist, including kneeling or bending
  • Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring visa transfer or sponsorship
  • Preferred: experience with SCADA infrastructure
  • Preferred: OSHA 30 and/or NFPA 70E certification
  • Preferred: NETA 3 or 4 certification
  • Preferred: ability to read and interpret schematics
  • Preferred: understanding of prerequisite testing for PV power plants, including ground testing, insulation resistance, VLF, power factor, breaker timing, relay programming, and testing
  • Preferred: experience managing and directing a team
  • Preferred: NICET/NETA certification
