About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop a thorough understanding of Guardian’s products and how job responsibilities contribute to company goals
  • Assist in financial and non-financial analysis and make recommendations regarding growth and profitability
  • Rotate departments every 18 to 24 months through the Actuarial Leadership Development Program
  • Utilize internal and external data sources to understand industry trends, clients, competitors, and the regulatory environment
  • Complete assignments on time and according to supervisor specifications, working independently where possible
  • Execute rate development and state rate filings supporting the Group Finance Strategy Team’s strategic goals
  • Provide actuarial support for product, underwriting, finance, and distribution initiatives impacting pricing models and resulting rates
  • Recommend and support new and advanced techniques to modernize pricing and improve accuracy
  • Report to the Head of Disability Pricing

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in a mathematics-based field
  • Regularly taking actuarial exams to pursue the Actuarial Fellow designation in the Society of Actuaries
  • Minimum of two years of prior work experience in the actuarial field
  • Proficient in MS Excel
  • Experience using actuarial modeling and data visualization software
  • Ability to communicate pricing analyses to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to contribute to multiple projects with multiple deliverables simultaneously
  • Strong analytical and technical skills with the ability to synthesize sophisticated information
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship/support now or in the future
  • Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science
  • Actuarial Associate designation in the Society of Actuaries
  • 3-5 years of prior work experience in the actuarial field
  • Understanding of group pricing practices including the use of experience
  • Prior work experience in Group Pricing, particularly Disability coverage
