About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support development of energy efficiency test procedures and standards for the U.S. Department of Energy.
- Evaluate, investigate, and analyze new and emerging technologies that improve building or equipment efficiency.
- Conduct detailed fact finding, research, and analysis of energy efficiency topics.
- Assess technologies and analyze technology trends.
- Model performance of advanced technologies.
- Perform statistical analyses, data collection, and spreadsheet creation and management.
- Develop test methods to characterize appliance energy use.
- Review international industry test methods and procedures.
- Prepare client reports, presentations, and other documents.
- Perform market and technology assessments and advanced technology investigations as needed.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must be a US Citizen due to nature of client engagements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, or a similar discipline.
- Zero(0) to One(1) years of directly related working experience.
- Ability to travel as needed.
- Ability to constantly operate a computer and other office equipment to coordinate work.
- Ability to regularly use close visual acuity and operate computer equipment to prepare, analyze and transmit data accordingly.
- Ability to work in an office environment.
- Currently reside or ability to relocate near Arlington, VA.
- The successful candidate must not be subject to employment restrictions from a former employer that would prevent the candidate from performing the job responsibilities.
- Bachelor's degree awarded no later than August 2026.
- 0 to 1 year professional working experience post-graduation.
- Internships, Co-ops, or fellowships related to energy efficiency, connected & smart lighting, HVAC technology, and/or building automation & efficiency.
- Strong interest in energy efficiency, laboratory testing, and/or advanced technologies and/or relevant experience in these fields.
- Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proactive and independent work style.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Superior interpersonal skills.
- High degree of self-confidence and determination.
- Highly developed organization and time management skills.
- High attention to detail and data accuracy.
