About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Originate, close, and lead large and complex client engagements
- Manage staff and assist in related business development efforts
- Track and analyze energy market trends
- Translate clients' inquiries and challenges into actionable scopes of work
- Compile reports, presentations, and other documents to communicate solutions, strategies, and analysis to clients
- Support the day-to-day management of client relationships
- Develop and use analytical models, programming, and simulations to forecast market prices, conduct research and development, and create tools to improve productivity and accuracy
- Review and approve model outputs through data collection, manipulation, and analyses, including spreadsheet and database creation and management
- Analyze ISO/RTO markets across North America, including energy pricing, capacity auctions, ancillary services, load composition, and demand response
- Evaluate the economics, policies, and market participants driving renewables, battery storage, green fuels, and new power generation technologies
- Supervise simulations of future power transmission grid dispatch using an economic dispatch model
- Review generation resource additions and retirements using a capacity expansion model across ISO/RTO markets
- Help develop the Reference Case while expanding the client base
- Mentor junior consultants in energy markets, business development, and client management
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must be a US Citizen or US Permanent Resident due to nature of client engagements
- Bachelor’s degree in a business, economics, energy finance, or engineering discipline AND Five (5+) plus years of post-graduation work experience in a related field; OR Master’s degree in a business, economics, energy finance, or engineering discipline AND Three (3+) plus years of post-graduation work experience in a related field
- Post graduation work experience with economic dispatch models such as Aurora, Origin, PLEXOS, BID3, or PSO
- Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experienced with data analytics, data modeling and visualization
- Proactive and independent work style
- Ability to assume ownership of significant portions of tasks while collaborating with a close-knit team
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to travel
- Ability to work in a Guidehouse Office or Client Office location
- Currently reside in the contiguous United States
