About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Process and pre-underwrite conventional, FHA, VA, and Bond mortgage loans
  • Ensure compliance with Company, secondary-market investor, government-agency, federal, state, and local requirements
  • Achieve production and quality metrics
  • Act as liaison between loan officers, borrowers, underwriters, and funding
  • Prepare and review loan files for completeness and compliant submission
  • Monitor loan-processing cycle time and resolve issues that could delay closing
  • Serve as subject-matter expert/lead when the Supervisor/Lead is unavailable
  • Analyze loan-to-value ratios, debt-to-income ratios, credit reports, applications, income, assets, down-payment sources, and supporting documentation
  • Order and review third-party documentation, including credit checks, title reports, appraisals, tax returns, and employment/asset verifications
  • Check ratios and verify AUS findings and program applicability
  • Review documentation integrity and submit loan files to underwriting
  • Identify qualifying and program issues and restructure loans as necessary
  • Provide program options and recommendations within guidelines
  • Update and verify system data
  • Obtain and verify clearance of underwriting conditions and prepare files for Closing
  • Order generation of loan documents
  • Coach and guide less experienced Processors
  • Compose professional correspondence and emails using templates
  • Provide status updates to Loan Officers and borrowers

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Five or more years of recent work experience as a Loan Processor
  • At least two years of experience processing VA and Bond mortgage loans
  • Experience processing conventional and FHA loans preferred
  • Expert knowledge of mortgage lending internal processes and controls
  • Expert knowledge of federal, state, and regulatory requirements/guidelines for consumer mortgage lending
  • Expert knowledge of conventional, FHA, VA, and Bond mortgage loans and related program/investor guidelines
  • Expert knowledge of new construction documentation and condominium projects
  • Expert knowledge of documentation for consumer mortgage applications
  • Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external partners
  • Sound judgment and critical-thinking ability
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Intermediate math skills
  • Strong detail orientation and organizational skills
  • Experience using internal data-entry systems, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PDF/Document Retention programs
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, Wiki, collaborative cloud-based programs, and third-party software applications
