About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Partner with business unit leaders and Product, Data & Technology teams to assess data and analytics needs
  • Elicit data requirements and research internal systems of record and publicly available data sources
  • Requisition and obtain private data sources to support business needs
  • Identify translation and transformation requirements for sourced data
  • Improve sourced data quality through data curation, validation rules, and maintenance of Master Data tables
  • Maintain the Logical Data Dictionary with data lineage, stewardship, custodianship, and versioning information
  • Reconcile and validate dashboards and reports
  • Document functional and non-functional requirements for data collection, loading, transformation, curation, processing, visualization, and insight distribution
  • Identify process improvements, automation opportunities, scalable infrastructure redesigns, and optimized data delivery
  • Provide actionable insights on customer acquisition, operational efficiency, and business performance metrics
  • Identify PII and define masking, data-processing, and access-control rules
  • Document Business Continuity Plan/Disaster Recovery and high-availability and recoverability requirements
  • Assess data-source accuracy and data-gathering effectiveness
  • Define KPIs and document processes for monitoring data warehouse performance and accuracy
  • Mentor less experienced data professionals and share reusable artifacts and domain knowledge
  • Participate in stakeholder reviews and design sessions
  • Provide data, reports, and information to management
  • Monitor trends and technology-related errors and develop cross-functional solutions
  • Resolve high-level issues and contribute to technology direction decisions
  • Monitor platform usage, database sizes, compute resources, and third-party costs
  • Champion data transformation and maintain stakeholder partnerships
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Data Science or related quantitative field is required
  • Master's Degree in business administration (MBA) or related to the position or equivalent, preferred
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Data Analyst related role(s), including two years in a senior technical level role(s)
  • Highly proficient with eliciting business requirements, documenting user stories, analyzing data sources, and assessing data quality
  • Highly proficient in data analysis, technical documentation, logical data dictionary, data validation rules, acceptance criteria, SDLC such as Scrum, and ITSM – ITILv4
  • Experience identifying data integration needs using ETL tools and modern data pipes
  • Proven experience querying and analyzing SQL relational databases and NoSQL databases
  • Experience collecting structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data in various formats from internal systems and third-party providers
  • Experience using Microsoft Office or Google G-Suite, Jira, Confluence, and Microsoft SharePoint
  • Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes
  • Strong analytical, data governance, critical-thinking, organizational, communication, leadership, interpersonal, and team-building skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies and techniques
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, Wiki, collaborative cloud-based programs, and third-party software applications
