About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Own deep technical scoping and all enterprise requests, including qualification and demo strategy for complex opportunities
Handle genuine product or integration escalations and own the resolution path end-to-end
Partner with Engineering and Product to surface tooling gaps, provide customer and technical insight, and influence the roadmap
Act as the Solutions Engineering-side partner in premium/large-opportunity management
Set the team's technical standard through coaching, training, and continuous learning support
Own delivery paths for scoped builds, routing work to internal or external resources and managing timelines and customer commitments
Architect and validate integration/API solutions spanning GL mapping, time-tracking stacks, multi-state payroll, and third-party integrations
Serve as the technical owner for qualification and demo strategy on high-MRR, high-leverage deals
Support Gusto's mission to grow the small business economy through payroll, health insurance, 401(k), and HR solutions

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's Degree or 7+ years of relevant work experience in a comparable senior technical, solutions-architecture, or implementation role
Deep fluency in Salesforce or a comparable CRM and Gusto's integration stack
Ability to diagnose root cause across systems
Proven ability to scope and resolve ambiguous technical/API problems
Track record of designing and implementing complex, integration-heavy solutions for enterprise-level customers
Ability to work directly with Engineering and Product and write escalations as real bug reports
Demonstrated mentorship ability
Payroll Certification is a bonus
Direct experience with API-based or integration-heavy product demos and solution architecture is a bonus
Payroll, tax, or compliance domain knowledge at a systems level is a bonus
Experience with accounting firms, resellers, or partner-channel programs at enterprise scale is a bonus
Proficiency in Excel, Google Sheets, or SQL is a bonus
