About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own roadmap initiatives spanning Gusto financial services, helping workers make financial progress across spending, saving, credit, and money management
  • Ship consumer banking experiences across onboarding, activation, everyday usage, retention, engagement, and customer support
  • Take responsibility for business outcomes of the workstream
  • Serve as the fintech infrastructure and payments expert, untangling complexity and shipping durable systems
  • Build consumer features enabled by Gusto’s position in the payroll ecosystem
  • Understand hourly and salaried workforces to craft product narratives and create financial progress
  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Design, Data, Risk, Compliance, Legal, and Operations teams
  • Evaluate and execute opportunities with external vendors such as issuing banks, card processors, and banking infrastructure providers
  • Define KPIs around activation, funding, engagement, and retention, using data to drive prioritization and iteration

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 7+ years of product management experience
  • Directly related product management work in accounting, financial software, or an adjacent domain (mandatory)
  • Familiarity with AI tools and comfort using AI tools, including prototypes to accelerate the development lifecycle
  • Data-oriented, with experience using data to inform decisions and track outcomes
  • Meaningful familiarity with accounting concepts, including journal entries and reconciliation flows
  • Ability to work through ambiguous problems
  • Ability to wear multiple hats, including conducting user research, forecasting product adoption, and prototyping new features
  • Understanding of how individual features fit into broader accounting systems
  • Comfort working through detailed workflows, edge cases, data mappings, ledger concepts, and controls
  • Strong frameworks/foundations to prioritize and deliver on customer needs and business outcomes
