About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Oversee the lifecycle of grants for the Habematolel Pomo of Upper Lake
- Provide financial oversight for grant funds, including monitoring, budgets, amendments, and related documents
- Manage the Grant Writer and collaborate on grant proposals and renewals
- Ensure compliance with state and federal grant reporting requirements
- Account for grant expenditures and submit required financial reports
- Develop and maintain a matrix to track grants, reporting requirements, compliance, deadlines, and due dates
- Analyze grant transactions, salaries, wages, allowable costs, and regulatory compliance
- Notify personnel of required actions, including journal voucher adjustments
- Meet monthly with staff and provide grant performance, utilization, budget, and variance reports
- Issue and track reimbursement invoices when required
- Prepare monthly performance reports for Administrators and Executive Council
- Research grant opportunities and identify eligible projects
- Interpret and communicate regulations and policies to Tribal staff and external agencies
- Assist with monthly forecasting and annual budgeting
- Enter and maintain grant and contract information in grants databases and accounting software
- Maintain grant files and obtain required forms and signatures
- Serve as primary contact with funding agencies on accounting, budget, and compliance matters
- Assist with grant audits and compliance activities
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting or finance
- Experience with Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Uniform Grant Guidance and Single Audit Act requirements
- Three or more years of experience in grant development, management, and planning
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Proficiency in grant management software and accounting systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to interpret and apply complex regulations and guidelines
- High level of integrity and professionalism
- Satisfactory completion of drug screening and background checks
- Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
