About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Supervise people, equipment, and processes within assigned work centers
  • Lead safety, people, quality, production, and cost objectives
  • Ensure personnel safety, well-being, and regulatory compliance
  • Support production output by regularly working on the line, operating equipment, working at workstations, and assisting with material handling
  • Conduct safety audits and ergonomic assessments
  • Foster positive morale, inclusion, teamwork, and equitable treatment
  • Develop employees through coaching, performance evaluations, cross-training plans, and training and hiring coordination
  • Ensure adequate staffing coverage across shifts and responsibilities
  • Maintain and improve product quality
  • Facilitate root-cause investigations for defects and downtime
  • Build and adjust daily and weekly schedules and monitor metrics to achieve production goals
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives, including 5S and floor appearance standards
  • Manage manufacturing costs including consumables, scrap, direct labor, and overtime
  • Report equipment downtime and support maintenance routing
  • Collaborate with Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, and Warehouse to optimize production flow and escalate issues

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Demonstrated analytical/problem solving experience using data to drive solutions
  • Demonstrated situational leadership and ability to work effectively with diverse teams
  • Willingness to accept change and the ability to affect policy and technical changes with subordinates and peer groups
  • Understanding of Lean/CI tools and 5S principles
  • Strong problem-solving ability
  • Ability to interpret KPIs and drive corrective actions
  • Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects
  • Self-motivated, self-starter
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, Business, or related discipline from an accredited university
  • Experience in a supervisory capacity or internship role
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
