About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist certified and/or licensed practitioners in providing patient care services for orthotic and/or prosthetic devices under indirect supervision
- Work under the general direction of the ACM/CM or their designee
- Assist practitioners with patient care
- Prepare rooms and patients for treatment
- Make and modify molds
- Perform technical fabrication
- Complete administrative tasks
- Complete and maintain accurate documentation of patient care
- Evaluate selected orthotic and prosthetic needs of patients
- Measure, cast, fit, and adjust devices
- Perform selected patient care procedures
- Provide alterations to the fitting of orthotic and prosthetic devices
- Provide patient follow-up for selected orthotic and prosthetic patients
- Perform shipping, receiving, inventory monitoring, and other clerical tasks
- Contact vendors to order prosthetic and orthotic materials
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or GED required
- ABC Assistant certification in orthotics, prosthetics, or both
- Must have, or be eligible to obtain, a valid driver’s license and driving record within the standards outlined within Hanger’s Motor Vehicle Safety Policy and Procedures
- Willingness to consult certified clinician during patient care, as needed
- Ability to follow written and verbal directions
- Hand skills necessary to use laboratory tools safely and effectively
- Knowledge of biomechanical principles
- Good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills for reporting information to patient and staff
- Effective organizational skills and ability to prioritize and plan for the purpose of meeting deadlines
- Ability to work effectively as a team member
- Act with integrity in all ways and at all times, remaining honest, transparent, and respectful in all relationships
