About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Fabricate a variety of orthotic and prosthetic devices and components.
- Use appropriate hand tools to perform fabrication and repair of orthotic and/or prosthetic devices.
- Work closely with clinicians and patients to adjust and repair devices.
- Perform ordering, receiving, and other inventory tasks as assigned.
- Fit and deliver prefabricated and off-the-shelf orthoses such as cervical orthoses, pressure gradient hose, and trusses.
- Educate patients on the application, use, care, and expected outcome for DME products according to physician instructions and manufacturer recommendations.
- Contact vendors to order orthotic fabrication materials and maintain fabrication inventory.
- Work primarily in a small workshop away from the exam room.
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or GED required.
- A valid driver’s license and driving record within the standards outlined within Hanger’s Motor Vehicle Safety Policy and Procedures.
- Technical training school or 2 years experience preferred.
- Knowledge and hand skills needed to fabricate and repair prostheses and orthoses according to patient measurements, casts and in compliance with a physician's prescription.
- Mechanical ability and hand-eye coordination to use laboratory tools safely and effectively.
- Experience or familiarity with band saws, drill presses, vacuum systems, heat guns, blades, speed routers, and other small hand tools.
- Effective organizational, time management and planning skills.
- Good interpersonal and verbal skills for communicating with others.
- Ability to work effectively as a team member.
- Ability to act with integrity, remain honest, transparent, and respectful.
