About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Fabricate and repair orthotic and/or prosthetic devices using appropriate hand tools.
  • Order and receive materials and perform inventory tasks.
  • Fit and deliver prefabricated and off-the-shelf orthoses, including cervical orthoses, pressure gradient hose, and trusses.
  • Educate patients on application, use, care, and expected outcomes for DME products according to physician instructions and manufacturer recommendations.
  • Contact vendors to order orthotic fabrication materials.
  • Maintain inventory of items used during the fabrication process.
  • Work closely with clinicians and patients to adjust and repair devices.
  • Fabricate orthoses and their components in a workshop environment.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • A valid driver’s license and driving record within the standards outlined within Hanger’s Motor Vehicle Safety Policy and Procedures.
  • Technical training school or 2 years experience preferred.
  • Knowledge and hand skills needed to fabricate and repair prostheses and orthoses according to patient measurements, casts, and physician prescriptions.
  • Mechanical ability and hand-eye coordination to use laboratory tools safely and effectively.
  • Experience or familiarity with band saws, drill presses, vacuum systems, heat guns, blades, speed routers, and other small hand tools.
  • Effective organizational, time management, and planning skills.
  • Good interpersonal and verbal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member.
  • Ability to act with integrity, honesty, transparency, and respect.
