About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Greet and assist patients upon arrival, provide wait-time information, and address front-desk inquiries.
  • Verify and update patient demographics and insurance details during check-in.
  • Handle walk-in registrations.
  • Collect deductibles, copays, co-insurance, and other patient payments at the front desk.
  • Coordinate follow-up appointments, including cast and measure, delivery, and prosthetic care plans.
  • Serve as a liaison for clinic services and provide information about patient experience programs, support groups, and other resources.
  • Collaborate with the Revenue Cycle Management team to obtain necessary patient information.
  • Maintain accurate and complete electronic health records for all patients.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Less than one year of customer service, administrative or related experience required.
  • Experience in a receptionist position or experience with medical front office procedures preferred.
  • Must have, or be eligible to obtain, a valid driver’s license and driving record within the standards outlined within Hanger’s Motor Vehicle Safety Policy and Procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral (including telephone) and written communication skills.
  • Ability to key 30 words per minute with accuracy required.
  • Ability to work with handicapped individuals.
  • Understanding of Alpha filing system.
  • Understanding of medical reimbursement and terminology and front office (receptionist) duties preferred.
  • Ability to use a computer, including Windows-based software and e-mail.
  • Ability to use necessary office equipment, including facsimile machines, calculator, postage machine, and copier.
  • Must act with integrity, remain honest, transparent, and respectful.
  • Must keep the patient at the center of everything, building lifelong trust.
  • Must foster open collaboration and constructive dialogue.
  • Must continuously innovate solutions and respond to change.
  • Must focus on superior outcomes and outstanding results.
