About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Coordinate the work activities of a small team for timely and cost-effective delivery of fabricated devices
Ensure adherence to all safety and administrative policies and procedures
Plan and coordinate available resources to achieve quality, production, and financial objectives
Organize daily workflow to maximize department productivity while maintaining product quality
Schedule and expedite all work through the department
Order materials and components required to meet the daily production schedule
Assist the Manager to recruit, hire, train, and develop department personnel
Facilitate communication between practitioners and technicians on technical issues to enhance quality control
Build communication between the Fabrication department and its customers, branches, Purchasing, and other Hanger departments
Provide pricing for work performed
Ensure a safe working environment and promote safety awareness
Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and other governmental rules and regulations
Create and distribute department reports and summaries
Assist the Central Fabrication Director or Manager with personnel issues
Ensure adherence to administrative and financial policies and procedures
Develop company spirit and teamwork within the department
Perform other duties or special projects as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need

BS in Business Administration, Production Operations, O&P or equivalent experience
Five years orthotics/prosthetics fabrication production experience preferred
American Board Certified (ABC) registered technician preferred in Orthotics and or Prosthetics
Ability to lift necessary supplies or materials frequently; capable of easily lifting fifty (50) pounds alone
Ability to walk, bend, stand and reach constantly during a work day/shift
Visual acuity sufficient to maintain records, understand written direction, and fabricate or repair orthotic and prosthetic devices
Ability to speak and hear sufficiently to understand and give directions
Fine motor skills adequate for repairing and creating orthotic devices
Ability to participate in sustained activities for many hours in duration and in accordance with state labor laws
Proven problem solving skills
Proven organizational and time management skills
Proven interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
Proven supervisory or leadership skills
Ability to organize, prioritize and manage multiple projects as well as ongoing production work
Proven track record of production
Proven track record of quality assurance
Computer skills including word processing, spreadsheet, and data entry experience
Ability to create, develop and maintain positive working relationships
Willing to travel
