About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as a first responder to security-related events and support Hanover’s security posture
  • Partner with IT, audit, HR, and other enterprise teams to identify issues, educate teams, recommend remediation options, and drive issues through resolution
  • Monitor IDS alerts, network and system logs, and network traffic to detect and report threats
  • Open incident tickets and document security-event resolutions
  • Monitor trend analysis and document findings
  • Perform work across multiple platforms, with depth of knowledge in at least two platforms
  • Advise on threats and vulnerabilities and help prioritize activities
  • Research security threats and develop indicators of compromise for detecting anomalies and infected-system patterns
  • Perform incident response, including security-event analysis, incident handling, reporting, and threat analysis
  • Provide technical analysis, design, support, and recommendations for security applications, technologies, and products
  • Provide situation reports for Digital Forensics, Incident Response, and leadership escalations
  • Train and mentor other analysts
  • Act as an escalation path for junior staff, validate findings, identify event scope, and support larger investigations
  • Lead team members on projects or initiatives and assign tasks as appropriate
  • Coordinate team collaboration across the IT organization

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or equivalent knowledge with 5+ years of related professional experience
  • Technical expertise in systems administration and security tools
  • Knowledge of security practices and procedures
  • Intermediate networking knowledge, including multiple protocols
  • Excellent independent and team collaboration skills
  • Experience working in complex environments with a high degree of organizational effectiveness
  • Ability and commitment to communicate effectively
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build partnerships with stakeholders and peers
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
  • Some combination of OS-level certifications, Security+, GSEC, SSCP, and CEH certifications
