About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as a primary contact for questions about how systems work from business and technical perspectives
  • Research, collect, prioritize, document, and communicate business needs and requirements
  • Develop relationships with business partners and demonstrate knowledge of business applications and products
  • Partner with business units and IT to support business applications
  • Collaborate with business partners, project team members, IT colleagues, and external vendors to clarify business problems, outcomes, and scope
  • Provide technical expertise across Specialty Lines and Infrastructure technology business units
  • Research and apply innovative best practices and recommend procedural improvements with the BA Center of Excellence and PMO
  • Mentor team members and lead project teams in providing business context and ensuring QA deliverables and business acceptance testing success
  • Act as project lead on small to medium-sized projects and technology-driven initiatives
  • Collect, analyze, and document business and technical requirements
  • Participate in planning sessions to improve business processes or Specialty Lines products
  • Support requirements design, testing, and implementation
  • Identify business priorities and advise business partners on options and technical limitations
  • Apply knowledge of basic systems within Hanover’s technology portfolio

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent required
  • +5 Years of relevant work experience
  • Strong business acumen; knowledge of insurance products preferred, ideally with Specialty experience
  • Ability to continuously learn and engage with business partners regarding scope and business value
  • Experience participating across multiple project methodologies: agile, waterfall, iterative
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with business and IT partners and foster strong relationships
  • Analytical thinking and ability to apply analytical techniques
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Thorough information seeking, in-depth research, and ability to ask probing questions
  • Strong self-management, planning, organization, flexibility, and ability to maintain performance under stress
