About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Build and maintain relationships with telecommunications, broadband, technology, and business journalists
- Draft targeted pitches to secure earned media coverage in trade and tier-1 publications
- Collaborate with the VP of Marketing to align external communications, network product launches, and executive positioning with company growth goals
- Draft press releases, media kits, white paper summaries, executive Q&As, and briefing documents
- Translate complex telecom infrastructure concepts into compelling narratives
- Serve as the primary contact for media inquiries
- Vet media opportunities and prepare executives and technical subject matter experts for interviews and panel appearances
- Support PR and media engagement for industry trade shows, product announcements, and executive speaking opportunities
- Track media mentions and industry developments
- Report coverage metrics and ROI to marketing leadership
- Assist with crisis and reputation support related to technical outages, emerging issues, and market shifts
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in public relations, Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field
- 3–5 years of dedicated public relations experience (agency or in-house)
- At least 2 years focused specifically in telecommunications, broadband, networking, or tech infrastructure sectors
- Proven track record of pitching and securing coverage in key telecommunications and technology trade publications
- Exceptional written, verbal, and AP Style editing skills
- Ability to turn complex technical topics into clear, persuasive stories
- Ability to collaborate with product marketing, technical subject matter experts, and executive leadership
- Familiarity with PR databases and media intelligence tools such as Cision, Muck Rack, and Meltwater
- Understanding of integrated marketing strategies, including SEO, digital PR, and account-based marketing (ABM)
- Experience with crisis communications or issues management in telecom or tech environments
- Approximately 10% travel
