About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Provide technical direction and guidance for product development and support services throughout the organization
Establish KPIs and metrics to assess R&D initiatives and provide regular reports and updates to senior management
Own the technology roadmap for product development
Manage allocation of budget, personnel, and infrastructure
Manage, mentor, and coach R&D team members
Lead end-to-end project management from planning through delivery
Coordinate cross-functional teams on scope, timelines, risks, and dependencies
Own R&D planning, execution tracking, risk management, and status reporting
Act as the primary interface between the R&D team and executive leadership
Provide input on R&D strategies, goals, and objectives aligned with business priorities and software development innovation
Collaborate with the executive team on departmental budgeting, forecasting, and return on investment
Travel as needed, approximately 1–2 trips per year to South Korea

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, related field, or equivalent work experience
10+ years of experience in software development
5+ years of experience in project or program management
3+ years of experience in a leadership or management role
Bilingual English and Korean
Problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously
Demonstrated experience managing people and leading cross-functional team
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Ability to balance delivery accountability with people leadership responsibilities
Flexibility to travel for on-site visits to the R&D office as needed
Current, valid passport and legal eligibility to travel internationally
Passport-based visa exemption or required travel visas for entry into South Korea
Comfortable using AI-enabled technologies, including copilots, chat-based AI assistants, and automation tools
Preference for candidates who can work in Korean Standard Time timezone
