About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist staff in identifying clinical and administrative priorities
  • Communicate with outside agencies and media according to public relations guidelines
  • Follow emergency preparedness and department-specific procedures
  • Report unusual activity or emergencies to the administrator on call
  • Investigate incidents and accidents and ensure appropriate response, action, and documentation
  • Communicate and disseminate information and direction during the tour of duty
  • Evaluate clinical and administrative solutions with the nurse manager and nursing staff
  • Coordinate distribution of available resources and initiate action plans
  • Coordinate nursing staff activities and review staffing patterns for the next shift
  • Consult with nurse managers and directors on staffing and scheduling issues
  • Make hospital rounds to assess nursing care quality and individual unit needs
  • Communicate concerns to appropriate staff and respond to patient concerns
  • Respond to emergencies and codes and coordinate activities under CH policies and procedures
  • Make operational decisions based on the Nurse Practice Act, Code of Nursing, NJ State and Federal requirements, OSHA, and CHS policies and procedures
  • Ensure patient confidentiality
  • Identify staff issues, counsel staff, and address employee grievances
  • Collaborate with the nurse manager to oversee new employees
  • Perform other duties as assigned and adapt to changing departmental demands

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program
  • BSN required
  • Masters preferred
  • TNCC required within six months of hire if working at RMC campus only
  • Five years Registered Nurse experience
  • Two years of experience in a leadership role, such as Assistant Nurse Manager, Nurse Manager, Coordinator, Supervisor, Team Lead, or Charge Nurse
  • AHA ACLS-Adv Cardiac Life Supp
  • AHA BLS - Healthcare Provider
  • AHA PALS or must obtain within 6 months of hire date
  • Registered Nurse - NJ
  • NIH Stroke Scale Certification or must obtain by end of orientation
  • 8 hours of Stroke related Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) contact hours annually
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, conflict resolution, and verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously and respond quickly in a fast paced environment
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills
