About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide direct emergency medical care, including examination, diagnosis, ordering diagnostic tests, treatment, and disposition of patients
  • Work clinical shifts at Capital Health Emergency Departments
  • Provide day-to-day oversight of physician and advanced practice provider operations
  • Lead physician efforts to improve patient throughput, including door-to-provider time, length of stay, left without being seen rates, boarding, and admission and discharge processes
  • Monitor and report department quality metrics
  • Participate in and lead quality improvement initiatives, peer review, case review, and follow-up of patient safety events
  • Develop and manage physician and advanced practice provider schedules to ensure appropriate coverage across sites
  • Align clinical practice, policies, and operational processes across all three Emergency Departments
  • Participate in onboarding, orientation, and ongoing performance feedback for physicians and advanced practice providers
  • Address patient and staff concerns and complaints in a responsive and timely manner
  • Partner with nursing and administrative leadership to improve patient throughput, quality of care, and provider scheduling

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • MD/DO Degree
  • Board certification in Emergency Medicine from the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM) or the American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine (AOBEM)
  • Minimum of three years of post-residency clinical experience as an Emergency Department physician
  • NJ & PA licenses, DEA and CDS, and other medical staff bylaw requirements
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Highly organized and productive
  • Working knowledge of ED throughput metrics, quality and regulatory standards (CMS, The Joint Commission), and provider scheduling
  • Ability to lead and motivate clinical teams, manage conflict, and make sound decisions in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment
