About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform all testing accurately and timely within the assigned laboratory section using computer-linked automated electronic equipment and/or manual methodologies
- Perform routine procedures requiring subjective analysis under supervision
- Perform routine operation and maintenance procedures for analytical equipment
- Prepare blood and body fluid samples for analysis, ensuring sample appropriateness and patient identity
- Record accurate and timely analysis results using manual and electronic reporting methods
- Follow infection control practices and quality assurance standards
- Use quality control methods to determine result acceptability
- Consult technical supervisors and pathologists regarding atypical results
- Provide age-appropriate care during phlebotomy and other direct patient services
- Instruct student technicians and staff members as required
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Associate's degree in science related field
- Previous clinical laboratory employment
- Familiarity with personal computers
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Completion of training in medical technology program or related field
- ASCP preferred
- Degree in medical laboratory sciences preferred
