About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Deliver quality nursing care for patients undergoing diagnostic or minor radiologic procedures
- Plan and provide individualized comfort measures
- Assess patient condition through interviews, physical examinations, and continuous monitoring
- Review medical history and records and address potential problems before testing
- Facilitate communication among patients, families, physicians, and the health team
- Explain diagnostic exams, alternatives, patient conditions, and coping mechanisms
- Formulate and document discharge plans
- Mobilize resources and collaborate with radiologists, administrative directors, and modality staff
- Develop individualized teaching plans and address cultural and special needs
- Anticipate deterioration and respond to changes in vital signs and measurable outcomes
- Document clinical changes, interventions, outcomes, and handoff information
- Administer medications safely and accurately
- Perform, teach, and demonstrate technical skills specific to diagnostic services
- Participate in chart review, performance improvement, evaluation of care, and unit standards review
- Advocate for patients and initiate improvements in care
- Follow attendance, punctuality, continuing education, and department policies
- Participate in unit and hospital committees and perform other assigned duties
Requirements
What you’ll need- Graduate of accredited School of Nursing
- One year critical care experience or training
- AHA BLS - Healthcare Provider
- Registered Nurse - NJ
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to organize care and/or activities of multiple patients
- Ability to assess data reflective of patient status and interpret information needed to identify patient requirements relative to age-specific needs
- ACLS required if assigned to listed critical care, emergency, pediatric, labor and delivery, surgical, interventional procedures, or observation areas, or must obtain within 6 months of hire
- NRP required if assigned to Maternity Services, or must obtain within 6 months of hire
- PALS required if assigned to listed emergency, infant follow-up, surgical, or pediatric areas, or must obtain within 6 months of hire
- Willingness to adapt to changing department demands
