Senior Payroll Officer
HCF Australia. Process fortnightly and monthly payrolls accurately and within deadlines .
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Process fortnightly and monthly payrolls accurately and within deadlines
- Manage payroll queries and provide timely, high-quality customer service to employees
- Prepare monthly payroll reports and reconciliations and support month-end and year-end processing
- Manage PAYG, payroll tax and superannuation obligations
- Process new starters, terminations, leave entitlements and superannuation choice funds
- Interpret and apply relevant awards, EBAs and Australian payroll legislation
- Resolve payroll issues, including overpayments and recovery processes
- Liaise with the ATO and other relevant stakeholders when required
- Work closely with People & Culture and HR Systems teams to maintain accurate employee information
- Support payroll system changes, upgrades and implementations, including Preceda system administration
- Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, controls and ways of working
Requirements
What you’ll need- 3–5 years’ experience in an end-to-end payroll environment
- Strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation, awards and EBAs
- Excellent customer service and stakeholder engagement skills
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to payroll accuracy
- Intermediate Excel skills
- Strong problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset
- Excellent organisation and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality, tact and diplomacy
- Experience with Preceda or a similar payroll system is desirable
