About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Sustain and grow existing customers while driving new business development for Missile Transport Systems
- Focus growth efforts on heavy-load, specialized transport systems for the Air Force, Army, Missile Defense Agency, and OEMs
- Lead all aspects of capture, including strategies aligned with sustainable growth and customer needs
- Manage a portfolio of Government and OEM accounts doing business with BLADE (HDT)
- Evaluate and implement new initiatives and business opportunities under the direction of the VP/GM, Missile Transport Systems
- Provide strategic and tactical input to executives by evaluating initiatives and opportunities
- Conduct market analysis and competitive assessments for strategic business-winning campaigns
- Manage cross-functional teams and influence preparation of proposals, business plans, work statements, specifications, budgets, and contract terms
- Collaborate with Program Managers, Legal, Contracts, Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Operations, and Inside Sales
- Market the company and products, provide OEM quotes, negotiate contract pricing, close sales, and monitor execution
- Understand customer requirements and develop new or derivative products within BLADE’s core competencies
- Travel to tradeshows, industry day events, OEM account meetings, and BLADE manufacturing facilities
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor of Science in Marketing, Business Administration, or related discipline
- MBA preferred
- Minimum 8 years of Business Development, Engineering, Sales or relevant equivalent experience required
- Experience in DoD acquisition process required
- Prior US military service is a plus
- Ability to develop/create proposals, RFQs, non-disclosure agreements and teaming agreements
- Experience in business operations including bookings, revenue, and annual operating plans
- Sales and business development experience with major defense contractors
- Experience building and managing a robust new business pipeline from opportunity identification through the entire capture management process, including proposal development and successful negotiations
- Familiarity with company products, markets, and technologies
- Excellent communication skills; able to communicate effectively with management and personnel at all levels, customers and potential customers, and government representatives
- Strong analytical and financial skills
- Customer focused
- Able to work on a self-initiated basis and in a team environment
- Knowledge of manufacturing operations is a plus
- Able to work extended hours
- Travel as required
- Quality orientation and high attention to detail
- Strong computer skills with demonstrated proficiency in standard business software packages, e.g. Microsoft Office
- SAP and/or Salesforce.com experience is a plus
