About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Independently perform assignments applying standard electrical design engineering techniques for small projects or selected segments of larger projects
  • Develop full plan designs, plan details, outlines, material quantities, cost estimates, and calculations
  • Prepare technical specifications for review and approval
  • Evaluate vendors’ bids and drawings for compliance with specifications
  • Review and approve electrical design drawings for assigned project segments
  • Collaborate with engineering colleagues on plan details, cost estimates, calculations, and broader electrical design activities
  • Prepare technical reports including life cycle cost analyses and facility condition assessments
  • Perform field tests and measurements; collect field data
  • Collaborate with field observation colleagues and prepare field reports and related documentation
  • Support proposal teams and proposal managers
  • Support the technical development and professional growth of Design Engineers and Designer I & II colleagues
  • Assist with design guides, guide specifications, and design control procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 4-year engineering degree from an ABET-accredited program
  • Typically 10+ years’ related experience in electrical engineering systems in the Built Environment, or equivalent working knowledge/experience/advanced degree in engineering
  • Considerable experience utilizing computer software packages and automated electrical engineering and design equipment
  • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Certification
  • Working toward Professional Engineering (PE) Registration
  • PE registration attained within the first 2 years of attaining this position level
  • Ability to independently apply standard electrical design engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and make minor design adaptations and modifications
  • Knowledge of electrical engineering systems and design practices
  • Ability to prepare plans, calculations, cost estimates, technical specifications, reports, and field documentation
