About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Join HEAPY’s growing team and help expand the business in the Greenville market
- Apply standard mechanical design engineering techniques to HEAPY projects
- Ensure accurate input into models or design tools and understand underlying design reasons
- Collaborate on plan details, outlines, cost estimates, and calculations for mechanical equipment, components, and systems
- Gather information for design specifications
- Review and evaluate vendor shop drawings, bids, and submittals for specification compliance
- Prepare designs, technical reports, and specifications for review and approval
- Perform field observations, tests, and measurements; collect field data and prepare related documentation
- Apply mechanical design techniques to project segments, small projects, or larger projects as appropriate
- Leverage AI and automation in design and project responsibilities
- Meet project deadlines and ensure deliverables satisfy requirements and standards
- Deliver quality assurance and implement corrective action as needed
- Build strong customer relationships through exceptional service
- Enhance design capabilities through continuous learning, collaboration, experimentation, feedback, and new technologies
- Pursue diverse experiences and learning opportunities to expand knowledge and leadership skills
- Perform additional responsibilities as requested or needed
Requirements
What you’ll need- Possession of a 4-year engineering degree from an ABET-accredited program or equivalent working knowledge/experience in a built environment with an advanced degree in engineering
- Typically 6+ years of related experience, or equivalent working knowledge/experience/advanced degree in engineering, related to mechanical engineering systems in the Built Environment
- Capability of exercising judgment in evaluating, selecting, and applying standard design engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to make design adaptations and modifications
- Experience using various computer software packages and automated mechanical engineering and design equipment
- Possession of a Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Certification
- Working toward Professional Engineering (PE) Registration; PE registration would be attained within the first 2 years of attaining this position level
- Ability to remain sedentary at a workstation for long periods while operating a keyboard and using a computer screen
- Ability to operate a mouse, stylus, or similar tool to make adjustments on electronic visuals
- Ability to see details of objects on a screen, including differences in colors, shades, and brightness
- Ability to communicate in person, electronically, and via phone
- Reliable transportation to and from project sites
- Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments in heat, cold, rain, snow, and wind
- Ability to access all areas of jobsites, including stairs, scaffolding, ladders, and elevation changes
- Ability to maneuver into kneeling, sitting, standing, squatting, and bending positions
- Ability to move, transport, or position items weighing up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to apply established protocols and practices in a timely manner and follow company and client safety guidelines
- Ability to gather, organize, and evaluate project and calculation information
