About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage the full life cycle of MEP-focused design engineering, commissioning, energy optimization, and sustainability projects
- Ensure project success through client experience, colleague engagement and collaboration, and financial sustainability
- Communicate with clients and colleagues about project scope
- Establish project guiding principles, schedules, costs, cash flow, quality, resource plans, and risk management
- Manage medium- to large-sized healthcare projects with fees up to $500,000
- Support client management and business development with new and existing clients
- Serve as a mechanical leader and assist with engineering calculations and designs
- Participate in project costing and bid preparation
- Define project scope, procedures, schedules, budgets, resource plans, communication plans, and billing milestones after project award
- Coordinate communication among HEAPY, clients, architects, and construction managers
- Build project teams with Practice, Operations, and Technical leaders and assign responsibilities
- Submit documents for code compliance review and obtain required permits
- Lead project progress meetings and monitor contract compliance, regulations, delays, costs, resources, equipment, materials, and quality
- Maintain colleague morale and represent HEAPY culture
- Ensure timely and accurate progress billing information
- Resolve client issues and obtain final approvals
- Participate in client feedback and improvement initiatives
- Maintain client relationships for business development
- Report client management activities and opportunities in the CRM system
- Provide design oversight and technical leadership for managed projects
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Normally requires a 4-year degree in engineering
- Typically 10–15 years of experience in MEP-focused design and project management, or equivalent working knowledge/experience
- Professional registration preferred
- Prior project engineering and project management responsibilities, preferably for education clients
- Located in the Indianapolis, IN metro area or willing to travel to project sites in and around the region
- Reliable transportation to and from the project
- Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments in varied weather conditions
- Ability to access all areas of jobsites, including stairs, scaffolding, ladders, and elevation changes
- Ability to maneuver into kneeling, sitting, standing, squatting, and bending positions
- Ability to move, transport, or position items weighing up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to apply established protocols and practices and follow company and client safety guidelines
- Ability to gather, organize, and evaluate project-related information and calculations
- Ability to remain sedentary at a desk for extended periods while operating a keyboard and computer screen
- Ability to communicate in person and by phone
