About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage the full life cycle of MEP-focused design engineering, commissioning, energy optimization, and sustainability initiatives
  • Ensure project success through superior client experience, colleague engagement and collaboration, and financial sustainability
  • Communicate with clients and colleagues about project scope
  • Establish project guiding principles, schedules, costs, cash flow, quality, resource plans, and risk management
  • Manage medium- to large-sized healthcare projects with fees up to $500,000
  • Support client management and business development with new and existing clients
  • Serve as a mechanical leader and contribute to engineering calculations and designs
  • Participate in project costing and bid preparation
  • Define project scope, procedures, schedules, budgets, resource plans, communication plans, and billing milestones
  • Coordinate communication among HEAPY, clients, architects, and construction managers
  • Form project teams and assign responsibilities with Practice and Operations leadership
  • Submit documents for code compliance review and obtain required permits
  • Conduct project progress meetings and monitor contract compliance, regulations, schedules, costs, resources, equipment, materials, and quality
  • Manage progress billing submissions and obtain final client approvals
  • Lead client feedback and continuous-improvement activities
  • Maintain client relationships and report business development activities in the CRM system
  • Provide design oversight and technical leadership for managed projects
  • Travel to project sites in and around the region

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Normally requires a 4-year degree in engineering
  • Typically 10–15 years of experience in MEP-focused design and project management, or equivalent working knowledge/experience
  • Professional registration preferred
  • Prior project engineering and project management responsibilities, preferably for education clients
  • Ability to remain sedentary at a desk for long periods while operating a keyboard and computer screen
  • Ability to communicate in person and by phone
  • Reliable transportation to and from projects
  • Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments and varying weather conditions
  • Ability to access all jobsite areas, including stairs, scaffolding, ladders, and elevation changes
  • Ability to work in kneeling, sitting, standing, squatting, and bending positions
  • Ability to move, transport, or position items weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to follow established protocols, practices, and safety guidelines
  • Ability to gather, organize, and evaluate project and calculation information
