About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage the full life cycle of MEP-focused design engineering, commissioning, energy optimization, and sustainability initiatives
- Ensure complete project success, including client experience, colleague engagement and collaboration, and financial sustainability targets
- Communicate with clients and colleagues regarding project scope
- Establish project guiding principles, schedules, costs, cash flow, quality, resource plans, and risk management
- Manage medium- to large-sized healthcare projects with fees up to $500,000
- Support client management and business development with new and existing clients
- Serve as a mechanical leader and contribute to engineering calculations and designs
- Participate in costing and bid preparation
- Define project scope, procedures, schedules, budgets, resource plans, communication plans, and billing milestones
- Coordinate communication among clients, architects, construction managers, and HEAPY
- Form project teams and assign responsibilities with Practice and Operations leadership
- Submit documents for code compliance review and obtain permits
- Lead project progress meetings and monitor contract compliance, regulations, schedules, costs, resources, equipment, materials, and quality
- Represent HEAPY culture and maintain colleague morale
- Ensure accurate and timely progress billing information
- Resolve client issues and obtain final approvals
- Lead client feedback and continuous improvement efforts
- Maintain client relationships and report business development activity in the CRM system
- Provide design oversight and technical leadership for managed projects
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Normally requires a 4-year degree in engineering
- Typically 10–15 years of experience in MEP-focused design and project management, or equivalent working knowledge/experience
- Professional registration preferred
- Prior project engineering and project management responsibilities, preferably for education clients
- Located in the Indianapolis, IN metro area or willing to travel to project sites in and around the region
- Reliable transportation to and from the project
- Ability to work at a desk for long periods while operating a keyboard and computer screen
- Ability to communicate in person and via phone
- Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments, including heat, cold, rain, snow, and wind
- Ability to access jobsites, including stairs, scaffolding, ladders, and elevation changes
- Ability to maneuver into kneeling, sitting, standing, squatting, and bending positions
- Ability to move, transport, or position items weighing up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to apply established protocols and practices and follow safety guidelines
- Ability to gather, organize, and evaluate project and calculation information
