About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Supervise the clinical operations of all nursing floors in the absence of the Nurse Manager and/or Director of Nursing
  • Assume administrative responsibilities for the Center in the absence of executive administrative personnel
  • Communicate with patients, families, and other health professionals
  • Make clinical rounds to ensure appropriate nursing care
  • Support nurses in expediting medical intervention when patient status changes
  • Ensure safety and security measures for patients, visitors, and staff
  • Assess and intervene in crisis situations and immediate clinical or management circumstances
  • Address urgent family matters and refer appropriately for follow-up
  • Monitor compliance with nursing standards, policies, and procedures
  • Adjust staffing and scheduling to meet immediate needs
  • Communicate concerns to Nurse Manager/DON and collaborate on reviews and corrective actions
  • Advise staff on counseling and personnel development
  • Coordinate with nursing management on staffing, scheduling, clinical, and administrative issues
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with facility support staff
  • Monitor supplies and equipment use against budget allocations
  • Conduct education programs with the Professional Development Department
  • Participate in nursing advisory committees, meetings, Quality Improvement programs, and initiatives
  • Prepare and maintain required records and reports
  • Adhere to departmental policies, procedures, objectives, and the organization's mission
  • Perform other related duties as required or directed

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Current Massachusetts license as an R.N.
  • Minimum of two years of supervisory experience in a similar setting
  • Acute care experience recommended
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, particularly in relation to problem solving and staff development
  • B.L.S. Certification required
  • Computer literacy preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and ANA Certifications in Geriatrics and/or Nursing Administration preferred
