About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Coordinate product shipments to ensure service commitments are achieved and maintained according to client requirements and company objectives
- Serve as liaison with customers, vendors, and government agencies for seafreight export activities
- Handle shipment-level communication regarding delays, billing, new shipment requests, and shipping instructions
- Process shipments in compliance with company procedures, customer requirements, and regulations
- Perform credit checks before arranging transportation
- Place and process booking requests according to service agreements and routing guides
- Schedule recurring customer bookings to ensure truck and vessel capacity
- Dispatch arranged pickups and communicate information for non-arranged pickups
- Submit insurance purchase requests when requested
- Secure and validate commercial and regulatory documentation
- Enter and check addresses and contacts for Denied Party Screening
- Send shipping instructions to carriers before cut-off
- Verify and confirm additional charges, including waiting time, demurrage, and detention
- Enter and update shipment milestone tracking events
- Create Master Agent Settlement / Profit Share invoices
- Archive documentation and audit files for accuracy and completeness
- Communicate additional charges to customers to prevent invoice disputes
- Ensure timely shipment transfer to destination offices and coordinate with destination teams
- Escalate recurring carrier/vendor service issues to the supervisor
- Consult the supervisor regarding non-standard services or pricing
- Develop and maintain customer standard operating procedures with Account Management and Sales
- Identify client volume trends and escalate as needed
- Maintain service relationships with customers, carriers, and vendors
- Monitor customer profitability and escalate pricing or service adjustments to product and sales management
- Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements
What you’ll need- Associate’s Degree (A.A.) from a two-year college, or equivalent combination of education and work experience considered in lieu of the educational requirement
- High School Diploma or GED
- One to three years of previous experience in freight forwarding industry preferred
- Completion of any industry related course is an asset
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Email, and Internet
- Proficient in world geography, shipping documentation, and Incoterms preferred
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills in English
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as freight rates, discounts, and other percentages
- Ability to perform the essential duties satisfactorily
- Ability to work with various office equipment and meet the stated physical demands
