About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Administer and operate DigitalOcean infrastructure using OpenTofu/Terraform
- Administer secure staging and production environments
- Build, administer, and maintain Docker-based development and deployment workflows
- Improve CI/CD pipelines, deployment security, and developer experience
- Implement pragmatic approaches to secrets, access, backups, monitoring, and infrastructure state
- Reduce manual operational tasks through transparent, verifiable, reproducible, and auditable changes
- Work independently and document technical decisions
- Train developers and promote good operational practices across the team
- Assess operational needs as the platform grows, including potential incident response or on-call practices
- Contribute to the PHP/Laravel backend where experience and role allocation permit
Requirements
What you’ll need- Several years of senior-level experience building and operating production infrastructure
- Strong practical knowledge of OpenTofu or Terraform
- Extensive experience with Docker and container-based development and deployment
- Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with cloud networking, access control, secrets management, backups, and observability
- Ability to work independently, make pragmatic technical decisions, and explain them clearly
- Security-conscious approach to systems handling sensitive health data
- Clear documentation skills and a desire to empower the team
- PHP and Laravel development explicitly welcome, particularly for candidates interested in a full-time position
- Experience with DigitalOcean or comparable cloud platforms is a plus
- Experience with Ansible or similar configuration management tools is a plus
- Experience with SOPS, age, or comparable secrets management workflows is a plus
- Experience with developer tooling and internal platform support is a plus
