About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support scientists in the design, preparation, and execution of coating development projects
  • Prepare coating formulations, test panels, substrates, and laboratory samples
  • Conduct routine laboratory experiments and testing activities
  • Assist in scale-up trials and validation studies
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, instruments, workspaces, inventories, chemicals, consumables, and sample storage
  • Perform physical, chemical, and performance testing of coatings and raw materials
  • Prepare test reports and document experimental observations according to internal, ASTM, ISO, and customer standards
  • Collect, organize, and analyze experimental data
  • Generate graphs, technical summaries, and reports using Excel and laboratory software
  • Identify trends, inconsistencies, and improvement opportunities from test results
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records and databases
  • Support technical presentations and project reviews
  • Follow laboratory safety procedures and company EHS requirements
  • Handle, store, and dispose of chemicals and hazardous materials properly
  • Maintain calibration and verification records for laboratory equipment
  • Support internal audits and quality management system activities
  • Collaborate with R&D scientists, application engineers, quality teams, and production personnel
  • Assist with customer sample preparation and testing requests
  • Participate in problem-solving related to product performance, manufacturing, and customer feedback
  • Deliver accurate and timely testing results and support efficient laboratory operations

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associate degree, Bachelor's degree, or Technical Diploma in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering Technology, Polymer Science, Laboratory Technology, or a related technical field
  • 1–3 years of laboratory experience in coatings, paints, adhesives, inks, polymers, or related industries preferred
  • Experience with coating application and testing techniques is an advantage
  • Knowledge of laboratory practices and scientific testing methods
  • Experience with analytical instruments and testing equipment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word for data analysis and reporting
  • Ability to interpret test results and communicate findings clearly
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Practical laboratory skills

  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
