About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead and mentor a high-performing team of engineers and technical leads specializing in SAP Commerce Cloud
Define engineering best practices, coding standards, and agile methodologies across the platform team
Foster innovation, quality, and accountability within the engineering organization
Own the architectural vision and technical roadmap for SAP Commerce Cloud across B2B and/or B2C
Drive technical decisions and integrations with SAP S/4HANA, ERP, CRM, and third-party systems
Ensure scalable, modular, and future-proof architecture aligned with enterprise strategy
Oversee planning, estimation, and execution of engineering deliverables and product releases
Translate business requirements into technical solutions with Product Management and UX teams
Track performance metrics, engineering velocity, and delivery quality
Partner with DevOps and Infrastructure teams to optimize CI/CD pipelines and cloud deployment strategies
Support shift-left testing, security, and performance validation
Collaborate with product, QA, operations, and business teams
Manage external development partners and SAP technical consultants

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field
10+ years of software engineering experience
5+ years in SAP Commerce Cloud (Hybris) development and architecture
Strong expertise in Java, Spring Framework, REST APIs, and microservices architecture
Experience with cloud-native development and deployment, including SAP Commerce Cloud in public cloud environments
Track record of leading large-scale, customer-facing commerce platforms
Deep knowledge of integration patterns with SAP backend systems, including S/4HANA, SAP ERP, and SAP CPI
Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies
SAP Certified Development Specialist – SAP Commerce Cloud
Experience with headless commerce, composable architecture, and MACH principles
Familiarity with Angular, React, or Spartacus
Background in performance tuning, load testing, and site reliability engineering
Typically 12 or more years of increasing responsibility and complexity in applicable professional experience
5 or more years of management experience
Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, team-building, planning, organizational, negotiation, and strategic planning skills
Ability to lead virtual teams and manage complex projects
Ability to work with senior management, key stakeholders, internal and external relationships, and internationally distributed teams
Travel typically less than 15%
