About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Deliver enterprise support and activities to aspiring academic entrepreneurs from Scottish universities
- Support restructuring of the Converge programmes from 2027
- Contribute to development of a new training framework and content
- Build partnerships supporting the restructured programmes
- Project manage framework construction of the KickStart Challenge for early-stage business ideas
- Develop training content for the KickStart Challenge
- Project manage framework construction and supplier procurement for the Converge Challenge programme
- Support delivery of the Converge programmes and other activities
- Work with universities, research institutes, entrepreneurs and stakeholders
- Work occasional evenings and weekends at various university locations
- Report to the Deputy Director of Converge
Requirements
What you’ll need- Relevant higher education degree
- Spinout, start-up or small company advising/management/development experience
- Experience in the successful development and delivery of presentations and workshops
- Understanding of academic values and ability to win the confidence and support of the academic community
- Experience co-ordinating activity across organisations
- Good communication and relationship-building skills with key stakeholders
- Ability to manage expectations
- Positive and friendly demeanour, with ability to maintain respectful working relationships with students, staff and alumni from diverse backgrounds
- Understanding of business idea validation tools, such as Business Model Canvas
- Understanding of matters surrounding company creation
- Understanding of the needs of early-stage entrepreneurs
- Experience working in partnership with different stakeholders
- Proven ability to manage own workload to ensure goals are met
- Ability to use word-processing, spreadsheets, databases, email and PowerPoint
- Proven experience reviewing and writing business plans (desirable)
- Working knowledge of Scotland’s enterprise network (desirable)
- Proven project management experience (desirable)
- Experience of commercialisation of academic research (desirable)
