About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Draft and issue contracts for permanent and temporary staff across Academic Departments and Professional Support Services, including Professorial Appointments
  • Provide pre-onboarding and existing-staff support with immigration, offers and Right to Work requirements
  • Enter and maintain accurate pay and contract data in the Cloud ERP Information System in line with Payroll deadlines
  • Assist with Skilled Worker Visa and Global Talent Visa applications
  • Advise existing staff on Right to Work and visa enquiries, conduct verification checks and monitor visa expiry dates
  • Calculate and advise on family leave entitlement, including maternity, paternity, adoption and shared parental leave
  • Monitor contract end dates and support changes to terms and conditions
  • Act as first point of contact for HR queries by telephone, email, face-to-face and HR Helpdesk
  • Advise on contractual queries, including annual leave entitlement and sickness absence
  • Research, gather, manipulate, interpret and present data from University systems for People Partners and other stakeholders
  • Help document and improve HR Operations processes
  • Reconcile annual pay element changes, including pay awards, increments and real living wage changes
  • Perform other reasonable duties within the role's grade and responsibility

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Educated to SCQF Level 6 or similar or equivalent experience
  • Considerable experience in a similar role, particularly with various different sets of terms and conditions
  • Considerable experience with UKVI Immigration and Visa requirements
  • Competent in Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, OneNote, Outlook and Excel
  • Experience of UKVI legislation and compliance (desirable)
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and Digital Proficiency (desirable)
  • Experience of working with Oracle HR system and ability to troubleshoot or find workarounds (desirable)
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrable professional approach with ability to work quickly, flexibly and accurately in a dynamic, changing and pressured environment
  • Good written and oral communication skills, with ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels
  • Ability to convey information to a non-technical audience clearly and concisely
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Flexible and professional approach, with ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive personal data
