About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead a defined geographic territory to achieve revenue targets and expand market share
  • Develop and execute sales strategies for contractors, dealers, and commercial accounts
  • Prospect, qualify, and close new business through outreach, job site visits, trade events, and referrals
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with key accounts and customers
  • Conduct account reviews and identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities
  • Develop tailored proposals to drive incremental revenue and customer loyalty
  • Collaborate with Branch Managers and Regional Leadership on order fulfillment, inventory availability, and customer satisfaction
  • Monitor competitor activity, pricing trends, and market dynamics
  • Maintain CRM pipeline records, forecast revenue, track KPIs, and prioritize territory activity
  • Represent Heritage at trade shows, vendor training events, and customer appreciation initiatives
  • Support onboarding and development of branch sales staff through best-practice sharing, ride-alongs, and training
  • Partner with marketing on territory-specific campaigns, promotions, and seasonal initiatives
  • Travel throughout the assigned territory, including customer job sites, branch locations, vendor facilities, and industry events, for an estimated 60–75% of working time

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Proven sales experience in distribution, wholesale, or a related field, preferably within pool/spa, landscape, irrigation, or building materials industries
  • Demonstrated history of meeting or exceeding sales quotas in a territory or account management role
  • Evidence of new business development and account retention
  • Ability to build and maintain productive relationships with contractors, dealers, and commercial customers across a defined geography
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Proficiency in CRM platforms (Salesforce, HubSpot, or comparable)
  • Familiarity with ERP systems is highly preferred
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to deliver product presentations, negotiate pricing and terms, and maintain professional customer correspondence
  • Ability to independently manage a large territory, prioritize competing demands, and follow through with minimal supervision
  • Able to pass background and drug screenings
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum three (3) years of professional outside sales, territory management, or account management experience in distribution, wholesale, or a related trade industry
  • Prior experience calling on contractors, dealers, or commercial accounts is strongly preferred
