About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead and grow HPE Networking’s Higher Education business across Colorado and New Mexico
- Serve as the primary point of contact and trusted advisor for state government, universities, community colleges, and higher-education systems
- Drive relationships, strategic technology initiatives, and adoption of HPE Networking solutions
- Own account strategy and execution across the region
- Develop and execute multi-year account plans aligned to customer initiatives
- Build senior IT, executive, and operational relationships within institutions
- Maintain customer trust, satisfaction, and long-term loyalty
- Lead full-cycle sales efforts from discovery through close
- Drive pipeline creation, forecasting, and quarterly execution
- Navigate complex RFP/RFQ cycles
- Identify customer needs and articulate HPE’s value through a consultative approach
- Collaborate with SEs, channel partners, distributors, and specialist functions
- Coordinate technical and cross-functional teams for cohesive account execution
- Stay current on higher-education market trends, network modernization strategies, and the competitive landscape
- Contribute to territory planning, business reviews, and process improvements
- Represent HPE Networking in customer engagements, executive briefings, and education-sector events
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of technology sales or account management experience
- Strong understanding of networking technologies including data center switching, WAN, Wi‑Fi, security, and consumption-based models
- Proven ability to manage complex accounts and multi-stakeholder selling cycles
- Demonstrated success working with technical teams and channel ecosystems
- Excellent communication, discovery, and relationship-building skills
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
- Preferred: Experience with HPE Networking, Aruba, Cisco, Juniper, or comparable networking vendors
- Preferred: Familiarity with higher-education procurement cycles, grants, and long-term budget planning
- Preferred: Experience with HPE GreenLake or similar consumption/aaS models
- Preferred: Strong negotiation skills and experience in competitive displacement scenarios
- Comfortable engaging senior executives and technical decision-makers
- Highly organized and disciplined with CRM, forecasting, and account planning
- Demonstrates long-term commitment in prior roles with a stable career track record
