About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Grow technical advocacy for HPE storage solutions across the partner community
- Serve as trusted technical advisor to top channel partners
- Help partner teams position, design and deliver HPE storage and data protection solutions
- Build partner capability to lead with HPE and generate pipeline and revenue growth
- Build relationships with partner technical and sales teams
- Deliver enablement sessions, workshops, whiteboarding and hands-on labs
- Identify and develop technical champions within partner organizations
- Support partner progress through HPE certifications and partner program requirements
- Represent HPE at partner events, tech days and customer-facing briefings
- Understand partner and end-customer technical needs and current IT infrastructure
- Translate needs into architected solutions, including alternatives and potential gaps
- Deliver presentations and demos tied to business outcomes
- Support solution configurations and proofs of concept
- Develop competitive strategies with partners
- Generate, qualify and progress storage opportunities with HPE account teams and channel managers
- Drive technology adoption, upgrades and refreshes across the installed base
- Maintain accurate and current pipeline information
- Ensure smooth handoff from sale to implementation and identify training needs
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
- 5+ years of technical presales experience with a major storage vendor or storage-focused channel partner
- Deep hands-on expertise in pitching, demoing and architecting complex storage solutions
- Knowledge of virtualization, including VMware or KVM-based environments
- Experience with at least two application stacks, such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle or SAP
- Working knowledge of at least one major public cloud: AWS, Azure or Google Cloud
- Expertise across the full data lifecycle: block, file, backup and ransomware protection
- Deep competitive knowledge of at least one major storage vendor
- Expertise in at least one major vertical is preferred: financial services, manufacturing or healthcare
- Strong knowledge of channel partner business models and offerings
- Proven ability to engage, collaborate with and technically enable partners throughout the sales cycle
- Excellent consultative selling skills, including active listening, framing, whiteboarding and storytelling
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong knowledge of storage industry trends, competitor products and strategies
- Strong business and financial acumen
- Solid project management, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with CRM systems and sales tools
- Storage-related industry certifications strongly preferred
- Must reside within the greater Chicagoland area
- Ability to travel approximately 50% of the time to partner and customer locations
