About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Drive technical consulting activities for new and existing opportunities
- Act as a trusted adviser to account teams and customers across routing, automation, and cross-segment technologies
- Build and maintain relationships with account management, Product Line Management, and Engineering
- Understand customer requirements and guide solution design
- Deliver technical deep-dive presentations and demonstrations
- Contribute to proof-of-concept tests and assist with RFP responses
- Advise customers and sales teams on HPE's product portfolio, automation solutions, industry trends, and competitive landscape
- Speak at internal and external conferences, technology days, innovation days, and industry events
- Connect proposed technical solutions to customer business requirements, including for executive-level decision-makers
- Support a Tier 1 Service Provider customer as part of the Service Provider Pre-Sales Engineering team
Requirements
What you’ll need- 12+ years of relevant networking experience
- Proven track record in a customer-facing pre-sales role selling networking equipment, or equivalent end-user experience in design, architecture, or vendor selection
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a technical discipline required
- Exceptional hands-on skills supporting complex proof-of-concept tests involving new products and emerging technologies
- Outstanding written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in virtual, multinational teams with little supervision
- Credible technical interaction with Enterprise and Service Provider engineering teams on service provider domain topics
- Comfortable traveling to customers, partners, and account teams, typically 20–30% of working time
- Expert-level knowledge of BGP, ISIS, OSPF, Multicast, L2/L3 VPNs, BNG, Carrier Ethernet, MPLS, RSVP, SR-TE, and SRv6
- Knowledge of access, metro, and core backbone routing design and MPLS-enabled services
- Knowledge of mobile wireless architecture, virtualization, and data center networking
- Knowledge of Netconf/REST APIs, YANG, OpenConfig, gRPC, and modern WAN architectures
- Experience with Paragon, MIST, Apstra, or equivalent competitive products is advantageous
- Extensive knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, containers, and Linux
- Automation and programming skills, such as Python and Ansible
- General knowledge of emerging protocols, high-performance network security solutions, and merchant silicon technologies
- Understanding of MX/PTX, SRX, QFX/Nexus/Arista, or equivalent platforms
- Professional-level industry certification desired
- Remote opportunity with preference for candidates located in Texas, New York, New Jersey, or Virginia
