About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Drive technical consulting activities in new and existing opportunities
  • Act as a trusted adviser to account teams and customers across routing, automation, and cross-segment technologies
  • Build and maintain relationships with account management, Product Line Management, and Engineering teams
  • Understand customer requirements and provide solution-design guidance
  • Deliver technical deep-dive presentations and demonstrations
  • Contribute to proof-of-concept tests and assist with RFP responses
  • Advise customers and sales teams on the product portfolio, automation solutions, industry trends, and competitive landscape
  • Speak at internal and external conferences, technology days, innovation days, and industry events
  • Connect proposed technical solutions to customer business requirements, including for executive-level decision-makers
  • Support a Tier 1 Service Provider customer as part of the Service Provider Pre-Sales Engineering team

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 12+ years of relevant networking experience
  • Proven track record in a customer-facing pre-sales role selling networking equipment, or equivalent end-user experience in design, architecture, or vendor selection
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a technical discipline required
  • Exceptional hands-on skills supporting complex proof-of-concept tests involving new products and emerging technologies
  • Outstanding written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in virtual, multinational teams with little supervision
  • Ability to interact technically with Enterprise and Service Provider engineering teams on service provider domain topics
  • Comfortable traveling to customers, partners, and account teams, typically 20–30% of working time
  • Expert-level hands-on knowledge of BGP, ISIS, OSPF, Multicast, L2/L3 VPNs, BNG, Carrier Ethernet, MPLS, RSVP, SR-TE, and SRv6
  • Strong knowledge of access, metro, and core backbone routing design and MPLS-enabled services including Multicast-VPN, L3VPN, L2VPN, and EVPN
  • Strong knowledge of mobile wireless architecture, virtualization technologies, and data center networking
  • Knowledge of network management, service provisioning, automation, monitoring, telemetry interfaces, Netconf/REST APIs, YANG, OpenConfig, and gRPC
  • Experience with Paragon, MIST, Apstra, or equivalent competitive products is an advantage
  • Extensive knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, containers, and Linux operating systems
  • Automation and programming skills such as Python and Ansible
  • General knowledge of emerging protocols and standards-body technologies
  • General knowledge of high-performance security solutions for network infrastructure, cloud, and mobility
  • Familiarity with merchant silicon technologies such as Trident, Tomahawk, and Jericho
  • Understanding of MX/PTX, SRX, QFX/Nexus/Arista, or equivalent networking platforms
  • Professional-level industry certification desired
