About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Define and execute HPE’s enterprise cyber defense strategy, operating model, roadmap, and investment priorities
  • Partner with the CISO, executive leadership, board stakeholders, and cross-functional teams
  • Lead global Cyber Defense Center operations, including incident response, threat hunting, compromise analysis, and crisis coordination
  • Lead insider threat identification, investigations, evidence handling, and risk reduction
  • Lead threat intelligence operations, adversary tracking, and intelligence-led defense
  • Lead detection engineering, analytics, automation, and AI-enabled SOC capabilities
  • Improve detection fidelity, response speed, investigation quality, and enterprise resilience
  • Implement generative AI and agentic AI capabilities to enhance and scale cyber defense operations
  • Build and retain a high-performing global organization through talent development, succession planning, and operational accountability
  • Represent HPE with industry partners, government agencies, and the broader security community
  • Travel approximately 25%, less if based in Houston, TX

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Executive-level experience leading large-scale, global cybersecurity or cyber defense organizations in complex enterprises
  • Deep expertise in incident response, threat hunting, threat intelligence, detection engineering, insider threat, investigations, and offensive security
  • Proven success building and scaling Cyber Defense Centers, red/purple teams, penetration testing programs, and intelligence-led defense capabilities
  • Strong understanding of modern adversary tactics, techniques, and procedures
  • Experience with SIEM, SOAR, EDR/XDR, threat intelligence, analytics, automation, case management, and AI-enabled security operations
  • Ability to translate cyber risk into business impact and influence senior executives and boards
  • Strong business judgment, executive communication, stakeholder management, and organizational leadership skills
  • Experience managing significant budgets, strategic technology investments, and enterprise transformation initiatives
  • Advanced cybersecurity or business credentials such as CISSP, CISM, GIAC, CCSP, or an MBA are valued
