About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Define and execute HPE’s enterprise cyber defense strategy, operating model, roadmap, and investment priorities
- Partner with the CISO, executive leadership, board stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to align cyber defense with business priorities
- Lead Cyber Defense Center operations, including incident response, threat hunting, compromise analysis, and crisis coordination
- Lead insider threat identification, investigations, evidence handling, and risk reduction
- Lead threat intelligence operations, adversary tracking, and intelligence-led defense
- Lead detection engineering, analytics, automation, and AI-enabled SOC capabilities
- Improve detection fidelity, response speed, investigation quality, and enterprise resilience
- Implement generative AI and agentic AI capabilities to enhance and scale cyber defense operations
- Build and retain a high-performing global organization through talent development, succession planning, and operational accountability
- Represent HPE with industry partners, government agencies, and the broader security community
- Travel approximately 25%, or less if based in Houston, Texas
Requirements
What you’ll need- Executive-level experience leading large-scale, global cybersecurity or cyber defense organizations in complex enterprises
- Deep expertise in incident response, threat hunting, threat intelligence, detection engineering, insider threat, investigations, and offensive security
- Proven success building and scaling Cyber Defense Centers, red/purple teams, penetration testing programs, and intelligence-led defense capabilities
- Strong understanding of modern adversary tactics, techniques, and procedures
- Experience with SIEM, SOAR, EDR/XDR, threat intelligence, analytics, automation, case management, and AI-enabled security operations
- Ability to translate cyber risk into business impact and influence senior executives and boards
- Strong business judgment, executive communication, stakeholder management, and organizational leadership skills
- Experience managing significant budgets, strategic technology investments, and enterprise transformation initiatives
- Advanced cybersecurity or business credentials such as CISSP, CISM, GIAC, CCSP, or an MBA are valued
