About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform accurate and timely recipe entry, edits, and maintenance in material management systems such as SAP
- Perform lab cooks to optimize materials and processes for PF, MF, and UF resin products
- Handle material entry, extension, and updates for new and existing materials
- Oversee raw material entry, approval processes, and documentation
- Coordinate and execute t-changes and t-blends according to business unit needs
- Maintain records and documentation for compliance and traceability
- Conduct recipe reviews for accuracy, consistency, and production compliance
- Respond to SO&E calls with technical guidance and troubleshooting support for plant operations
- Drive process optimization to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance product quality through data analysis and cross-functional collaboration
- Manage and coordinate rework activities and document corrective actions
- Serve as primary contact for batch-related inquiries between production, technical, and quality teams
- Support incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective and preventive actions
- Collaborate with plant personnel on quality metrics, continuous improvement, safety, housekeeping, and regulatory compliance
- Support compliance with industry codes and standards for structural wood product adhesives
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment
- Monitor and manage chemical inventories
- Follow procedures for chemical and hazardous waste disposal
- Report unsafe conditions, incidents, and near-misses
- Use required personal protective equipment
Requirements
What you’ll need- Strong knowledge of laboratory techniques, material management, and structural adhesives technology
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Proficiency in data entry and computer systems, including SAP and Microsoft Office Suite
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to follow detailed procedures and maintain accurate records
- Ability to stand, walk, or move around the laboratory and manufacturing floor for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. with appropriate technique and assistance
- Manual dexterity to handle laboratory equipment and materials safely
- Willingness and ability to wear a respirator and other PPE as required
- Visual acuity to read labels, measurements, and computer screens accurately
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related discipline (preferred)
- Familiarity with formaldehyde resin synthesis and characterization through DSC, DMA, and rheology (preferred)
- Experience in the adhesives, chemical, or materials industry, ideally supporting structural wood product applications (preferred)
- Hands-on experience with SAP or similar material management systems (preferred)
- Ability to support relevant industry codes and standards for structural wood product adhesives (preferred)
- Experience leading or mentoring technical teams (preferred)
- Knowledge of EH&S regulations relevant to chemical manufacturing and laboratory environments (preferred)
- At least 18 years of age
- Successful completion of a drug test and background investigation
- Authorization for periodic background checks as required by CFATS or applicable regulations
