About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Maintain professional relationships with clients through exceptional customer service
- Manage a book of business comprising fully insured and level funded clients
- Support Producers in producing new business and renewing existing business
- Serve as an advocate for clients and their employees
- Act as the primary contact between clients, prospects, agency, and producers
- Handle or refer client service requests
- Market accounts beginning 120 days before renewal
- Gather account information and submit it to carriers to obtain proposals
- Investigate carrier products and analyze client data to recommend plans and proposals
- Review proposals for accuracy and prepare proposal presentations with Producers using spreadsheets and exhibits
- Calculate premiums and payroll deductions and audit billing statements
- Generate open enrollment materials and conduct open enrollment presentations
- Process paperwork for carrier submission
- Direct transitions from one carrier to another
- Update account files in the agency management system
- Set priorities and manage workflow for timely and accurate transaction processing
- Maintain knowledge of carrier developments and federal/state laws affecting benefit programs
- Educate and advise clients on compliance requirements and deadlines
- Develop relationships with insurance carriers to facilitate business processing
- Maintain accurate agency files
- Process incoming mail requests
- Attend required training sessions and complete assignments
- Perform other related tasks as needed
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5 years of Employee Benefits and Account Management experience in the insurance field required
- Strong understanding of current employee benefits, regulations, and industry standards
- Experience with Affordable Care Act (ACA) and Employment Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) preferred
- Experience with fully insured financial arrangements and alternative-funding methods preferred
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development
- Active Life & Health License required
- Industry-related designations preferred
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Applied Epic experience preferred, but knowledge of similar Account Management System (AMS) is acceptable
- Ability to lift 25 pounds
- Repeated use of sight to read documents and computer screens
- Repeated use of hearing and speech to communicate on telephone and in person
- Repetitive hand movements, such as keyboarding, writing, 10-key
- Walking, bending, sitting, reaching and stretching in all directions
