About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Define the GI product line from scratch
  • Deliver large projects introducing new product capabilities
  • Break down complex problems into manageable tasks and resolve incident root causes
  • Make decisions grounded in customer needs and business priorities
  • Communicate technical ideas and document solutions
  • Implement key functionalities for the GI product
  • Independently drive high-complexity roadmap projects as engineering leader
  • Implement CI/CD, automated testing, monitoring, and client performance improvements
  • Improve maintainability, availability, and performance of team features
  • Contribute to architecture and developer tooling
  • Integrate AI technologies to automate processes and enhance product features
  • Mentor junior engineers through code reviews and real-time pairing
  • Launch the new product and iterate using member feedback
  • Drive cross-team initiatives improving the end-to-end GI user journey
  • Raise engineering standards for testing, observability, reliability, accessibility, and performance
  • Partner with staff engineers and cross-functional Product, Design, and Marketing teams across San Francisco, Montreal, and Bangalore
  • Contribute to and review code daily and independently ship impactful improvements

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field
  • Minimum of 3+ years of non-internship full-time professional software development experience
  • 4+ years of experience with at least one software programming language
  • 4+ years of experience in the full software development life cycle
  • Experience delivering large software projects or features in a production environment
  • Proficiency in at least one modern programming language, such as Python, Java, or JavaScript
  • Track record of building brand new products from scratch
  • Experience using AI software development techniques
  • Experience across the technology stack, such as React Native, BFF/full-stack web, GraphQL, AI Agents, Computer Vision, or Medical Device Integration
  • Experience running A/B or multivariate experiments
  • Experience mentoring engineers through pairing, code reviews, and design discussions
  • Experience with React Native, TypeScript/Node.js, Go, GraphQL, AWS services, client performance tooling, DevOps, and app architecture patterns preferred
  • Experience integrating product surfaces across multiple platforms preferred
  • Experience developing consumer-facing apps used by millions or billions of users preferred
  • Experience in healthcare, HIPAA, or other highly regulated domains involving sensitive member data preferred
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Located in or willing to relocate to the San Francisco Bay Area
  • Willing to work from the San Francisco office 3 days per week for a full 8-hour business day
