About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Build platforms, services, and engineering practices that enable Hinge Health teams to ship software safely and quickly
  • Own a multi-quarter technical roadmap for Service Enablement domains based on internal engineering needs
  • Lead architecture and design for highly available, secure, and maintainable platforms and services across pod boundaries
  • Build and maintain paved roads for service development, deployment, observability, reliability, and operational ownership
  • Improve developer productivity through automation, reusable frameworks, self-service workflows, and documentation
  • Set standards for SLOs, alerting, incident response, capacity management, service ownership, and production readiness
  • Support reliable and cost-efficient AI/ML workloads, including inference systems where appropriate
  • De-risk ambiguous problems through prototypes, spikes, and experiments with measurable results
  • Write and lead RFCs, design reviews, and technical decision records
  • Participate in production operations and eliminate recurring failure modes with systemic fixes
  • Deliver large initiatives from strategy through production adoption and measure platform adoption, productivity, reliability, cost, or reduced operational toil
  • Mentor engineers, coach senior engineers toward broader technical leadership, assist with hiring, and raise engineering standards
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Product, Security, Data, ML, and Infrastructure teams
  • Work with colleagues in San Francisco, including late-evening IST meetings

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical field
  • 10+ years of professional software development, or equivalent depth building and operating production systems
  • 4+ years with at least one modern programming language such as TypeScript/JavaScript, Go, or Python
  • 4+ years across the full software development lifecycle: design, implementation, testing, deployment, and production operations
  • 4+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure and containerized workloads such as AWS, Kubernetes, or EKS
  • Experience with software design and distributed systems fundamentals, including reliability, scalability, performance, failure modes, and API or platform contracts
  • Experience operating production systems, including observability, incident response, root cause analysis, and reliability improvement
  • Experience treating internal platforms and developer experience as products, with attention to usability, adoption, and measurable outcomes
  • Experience using AI tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, and Claude
  • Applicants should be open to meetings in the late evening following India Standard Time, 8:30 pm–10:30 pm IST
  • Willingness to work from the Bengaluru office 3 days a week for the full 8 hours of a typical business day
  • Preferred: experience building internal developer platforms, service templates, golden paths, CI/CD systems, or self-service infrastructure
  • Preferred: experience with platform security, identity and access management, compliance controls, or secure-by-default engineering
  • Preferred: experience supporting AI/ML teams with inference infrastructure, model serving platforms, evaluation workflows, or cost and performance optimization
  • Preferred: experience defining and maintaining SLOs and SLAs, error budgets, service-health metrics, alerting, on-call practices, incident response, and root-cause analysis
  • Preferred: experience with event-driven systems, workflow orchestration, service networking, or large-scale data and messaging infrastructure
  • Preferred: experience defining platform metrics such as adoption, deployment lead time, change failure rate, availability, developer satisfaction, or operational toil
  • Preferred: experience mentoring senior engineers or acting as technical lead for a platform migration, modernization effort, or organization-wide launch
  • Preferred: experience working in healthcare, privacy-sensitive, regulated, or otherwise high-trust environments
