About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead projects from ambiguity to launch, partnering with product, design, clinical, and operations leaders to shape a multi-quarter roadmap.
  • Lead cross-team initiatives, keep parallel workstreams predictable, and ship the hardest pieces.
  • Own the architecture of the scheduling platform as it adds specialties, providers, and real-time booking with outside provider networks.
  • Design encounters as the structured record of visit outcomes, care needs, and next steps.
  • Ensure the visit platform supports new specialties primarily through configuration rather than rebuilding.
  • Own contracts between Visits and surrounding teams, including programs, member records, and care team workflows.
  • Own reliability across team services and lead migrations off third-party systems.
  • Maintain high standards for security and privacy of member health data.
  • Write critical design documents, lead design reviews, establish reusable engineering patterns, incorporate AI into software development, coach senior engineers, and help raise the hiring bar.

Requirements

What you’ll need

  • 8+ years of non-internship, full-time professional software engineering experience.
  • Professional experience with at least one of: TypeScript, Go, React Native, or React.
  • Experience as the technical lead for a project spanning multiple engineers or teams, from technical design through launch, working closely with product and design partners.
  • Professional experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code) in day-to-day engineering work.
  • Willingness to work from the San Francisco office 3 days a week, for the full 8 hours of a typical business day.
  • Located in or willing to relocate to the SF Bay Area.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Preferred: experience setting technical direction across multiple teams in a 0-to-1 or rapid-growth environment.
  • Preferred: experience shipping product features powered by LLMs or agentic workflows to production.
  • Preferred: experience building scheduling, booking, or marketplace systems at scale.
  • Preferred: experience with clinical data and healthcare integrations, such as FHIR or HL7 data, EHRs, claims, labs, or pharmacies.
  • Preferred: deep familiarity with React Native, React, TypeScript, Node.js, NestJS, GraphQL, Go, gRPC, Postgres, Temporal, Kafka, Docker, and AWS.
