About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the reliability, security, and automation of software delivery pipelines and hybrid cloud infrastructure
  • Work with software engineers, data engineers, and SDETs to ensure applications are secure by design, available, performant, and deployed through automated pipelines
  • Apply infrastructure-as-code principles across Azure, GCP, hybrid cloud, and on-premises environments
  • Contribute reusable templates, designs, and components to enable engineering self-service
  • Share knowledge and improve platform engineering practices across the squad
  • Create, maintain, and secure CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions
  • Automate cloud and on-premises infrastructure using Terraform and Ansible
  • Support adoption of DevOps principles, culture, and improved ways of working
  • Build and maintain monitoring, alerting, and logging at platform, application, and data levels
  • Participate in incident management, problem resolution, and root cause analysis
  • Identify time-saving and cost-optimizing opportunities and support resource-utilization reviews
  • Support secure, scalable, and resilient production and development/test environments
  • Embed SAST/DAST security checks and gates within CI/CD pipelines
  • Support threat modelling, risk assessments, security controls, vulnerability management, and compliance
  • Collaborate with platform engineering, governance and architecture, information security, product, and development teams
  • Report to the Head of Platform Engineering; no direct reports

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Good grounding in platform engineering concepts
  • Strong interest in automation and operational excellence
  • Good awareness of cloud-native services and containerized systems, with some practical exposure
  • Understanding of data platforms, orchestration, warehouses, data lakes, and lakehouses
  • Practical experience with Azure DevOps pipelines or similar tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Puppet
  • Some experience involving DevOps, platform engineering, infrastructure, or operational support responsibilities
  • Working knowledge of Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform, Azure Resource Manager Templates, Bicep, or YAML
  • Understanding of version control and state management concepts
  • Hands-on experience with Azure, GCP, or hybrid cloud environments
  • Awareness of secure engineering practices, risk concepts, and SAST/DAST application security testing approaches
  • Experience using monitoring and logging tools such as New Relic, ELK, or similar
  • Understanding of alerts, dashboards, and cloud cost visibility
  • Willingness to learn, experiment, and adopt new techniques and tools
